ABOUT
Leslie Moore
I grew up on the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula with ASID Interior Designer, Alice Neiman Moore. My mother, mentor and teacher. My passion for interior design, textiles, color and art was developed at home and was a daily part of my life. I am very grateful that I had a mother that inspired me to love beauty, art and design.
From an early age I worked alongside my mother. Her favorite part of interior design being drafting. Creating floor plans with elegant lines of color and detail. My favorite part was choosing the fabrics, textiles, wallpaper, paint colors and design elements. We were a great team and complimented each other’s talents well.
My mother expanded her design skills studying under the “San Francisco Guru of Color”, Rudolph Schaeffer, at the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design in San Francisco. I learned from her what she learned from “the color guru”. An amazing and unique training in color. I was never afraid of being bold with color. It was and still is an area of design in which I have confidence and passion.
After graduating from college my plan was to join my mother in her business, however, my plans changed and I decided I needed to do something new and different from Interior Design. Design had been an everyday part of my life since I was a child . I continued to visit the San Francisco design and furniture showrooms with my mother and that is how I found a job for sales in the gift industry leading to my career today as an Independent Manufacturer’s Representative and Consultant.
In 1991 I began selling for local San Francisco Bay Area artists and makers. I was able to combine my love for design and art with a career working with artists helping them create successful wholesale brands.
Supporting artists and cottage industry has continued to be my focus. I love how quickly the retail market changes, following the trends, always having something new to sell and bringing innovative and creative products to my clients helping small and local businesses succeed.
I love supporting local business as that is what makes a community vital, unique and special. I also love helping create new products for the market and helping my accounts create custom designs with the wholesale brands I represent providing them with unique and relevant product.
In 2006 I began my Interior Design and Paint Color Consulting business in Santa Rosa, California under the name Color and Light Interiors with the vision of creating beautiful interiors with paint color and natural light. Today, I continue to do both businesses and find that they both involve overlapping, complimentary skills.
I have seen many changes over the years in design and manufacturing. I am continuously learning and evolving and love seeing where the trends lead. I am blessed to have always loved what I do. I love the challenge and creativity both businesses bring to my life.
